It’s been 9 months in business, so I guess it’s time to introduce myself for those of you who don’t know me!
I’m Aly - the owner of Scrappy Aly’s Creations.
Before I get into my introduction, I’d like to take this time to thank EVERYONE who has supported my journey of being an entrepreneur. Thank you for liking and sharing my posts, leaving such beautiful comments, giving me advice, and placing orders with me! Thank you for your patience while you wait for status updates too - I’ll work on posting a little more frequently!
While I’ve only been in business for less than a year, I started creating years ago. It began with scrapbooking and eventually branched out with creating other projects. I considered it a hobby and nothing more, but I knew it brought me a lot of joy each time =)
I’ve gotten my associate’s and bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication. I even had two internships and worked a few jobs in retail. I realized none of it made me happy. It didn’t make me feel fulfilled. I was going through the motions, days and years, not knowing what it was that I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Writing is another passion of mine and I want to work towards becoming a published young adult fiction author because before crafting, writing was my number one outlet. I’m full of creativity! But, it felt like I needed more…like I could do more than just be a writer.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2017 that it clicked. I began to think about turning my hobby of crafting into a business. I gave it a lot of thought, sat down, and began brainstorming all the details on how I envisioned building this idea. In the beginning of 2018 I started to work at it some more and created the website. It took me a few months to launch, but I did it.
It all scared me which was more of the reason to do it! You don’t get anywhere by staying in your comfort zone, right? Do I have kinks to work through? Of course! That’s normal. Do I still have a lot to learn? Yes and that’s perfectly fine! Do I want to be challenged in the projects I do? Yes! Bring them on!
In the weeks and months to come, I’m going to fully focus on building this business. I’m working on new projects, upcoming craft fairs, and adding a bunch of new merchandise into the shop! I’ve definitely neglected the website and shop a bit because of all that’s been happening. I’m going to focus more on goals and time management because those departments can certainly improve.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message!
